Wagonmasters Downtown Chili Cookoff will be held at Century II, 225 West Douglas Avenue and begins at 11 a.m. 2. Bloktoberfest Bloktoberfest is at WaterWalk Plaza on October 4 and 5. This family-friendly event celebrates German heritage and features a Biergarten with local, regional, and German craft beers, along with local food trucks and live entertainment. Jam to the bands while you sip on a beer or test your skills by competing in the hot dog eating contest or stein hoist. Kids can enjoy the carnival games and watching the Wiener Dog Olympics and dog costume contest. Bloktoberfest will be held at 515 South Main Street and is open on Saturday, October 4, from 4 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, October 5, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is free to the public. 3. Tallgrass Film Festival Attend the largest film festival in Kansas, Tallgrass Film Festival, from October 16 to 20. The festival is in its seventeenth year and has won critical acclaim by bringing together filmmakers, directors, writers, and actors and featuring numerous top independent films. More than 150 feature and short films are screened from local, regional, national, and international talent. In addition to showings, the festival also includes roundtables, filmmaker labs, gala parties, and VIP receptions. Tallgrass Film Festival will be held at various locations in downtown Wichita. Admission prices range from $7 to $250. 4. Wichita Asian Festival The Wichita Asian Festival is on October 26 at Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center. The event is presented by the Wichita Asian Association and provides an immersive experience into 15 different Asian cultures with live performances, crafts, and more. Cheer on contestants in the Miss Wichita Asian Festival Pageant and stroll the aisles to see handcrafted artisan items and traditional Asian clothing. Henna tattoos are offered from artists and kids can play around in the kids zone. Hybrid Dodge Charger and Challenger on the Way The Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger are synonymous with outstanding power meant to push you back in your seat when you step on the gas, and FCA's global powertrain chief Micky Bly believes that adding an electrified powertrain in both vehicles is a real possibility. He points out that the auto manufacturer wants to position itself as an industry leader in electrification over the next few years. Plus, going electric wouldn't hinder the muscle car's power at all. In fact, FCA insiders indicate that a future Hellcat with a mild-hybrid system could add around 130 pound-feet of torque. 2. 2020 Dodge Charger Widebody Coming Every few years the Dodge Charger gets a refreshed look to keep it current and interesting, and it seems as though the next chapter in the muscle car's story could include a Widebody style. As the name suggests, the Dodge Charger Widebody would feature wider fenders. It would also have a revised front end and large trunk lip spoiler. The other exciting addition this new Charger would offer is a beefed-up engine that would deliver an incredible 797 horsepower. 3. Reintroduction of the Dodge Barracuda If you're interested in a Dodge that offers an exciting drive, you'll be pleased to know rumors are swirling that the company might be bringing back the retired Plymouth Barracuda as a Dodge. To support this rumor, Dodge fans point out that FCA has filed for a trademark for both the "Cuda" and "Barracuda" muscle car name. If Dodge does bring the Barracuda back, it will likely come with a turbocharged V-6 engine. 4. 1,200-Horsepower Dodge Challenger in the Works If you're searching for a new Dodge that delivers some mind-blowing power, this rumor is for you. Hennessey Performance will supposedly offer its HPE1200 package for the Dodge Challenger. This package would go with the SRT Hellcat Redeye engine to give the muscle car a jaw-dropping 1,200 horsepower. 5. Return of the Dodge Viper Rumors have been circulating that the Dodge Viper could be making its way back to dealers within the next few years. In the new version, the Viper would swap out its V-10 engine for a more powerful V-8. The sports car would also weigh less thanks to a lighter chassis and carbon fiber and aluminum body. It can be easy to forget how important it is to wear a seat belt. Here are some reasons why it's important that you and your family are strapped in safely. more 1. In An Accident, Seat Belts Help Keep You In The Car If a person is not strapped in, it is possible that he or she can be pushed out of the car through the front, rear, or side windows. There is a rumor that in the event of an accident, it is safer to be pushed out of the car, but this isn't true. If a person is thrown out of the car, the chance of mortality is four times greater. This is also true if a car rolls over. In that case, chances of survival increase by about 45% when a person wears a belt and up to 60% if the car is a pickup truck. 2. Seat Belts Can Keep Your Body Protected A seat belt protects your vital organs, including your brain and spinal cord. Brain and spinal cord injuries can be extremely serious and wearing a seat belt keeps these body parts secure. In addition, a seat belt protects your body by spreading out the impact of a collision. It also keeps your head and neck at a distance from the steering wheel and dashboard. If a person experiences sudden impact or change of speed, a seat belt can restrain them and help prevent impact by slowing down the body's reaction. 3. Technology Is Not Enough People might feel that new technologies can protect them. This is incorrect. No element protects as much as a seat belt. Airbags are helpful when used in addition to a seat belt, but the seat belt is still needed for the body to stay in alignment with the bag. Also, driving a powerful vehicle like a pickup truck is not a substitute for wearing a belt. It has been reported that in the U.S., 467 people passed away when driving pickup trucks in 2015 and of that number, 216 people were not wearing belts. Similarly, driver safety mechanisms, cameras, and lane departure and assist technologies can help with awareness, but they are not directly life-preserving. Wearing a seat belt is. 4. Statistics Prove Seat Belts Save Lives Statistics clearly prove that wearing a seat belt can be the difference between life and death, more so than any reasonable precaution you can take on the road. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention states that seat belts cut the possibility of injury and death by around 50%, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that in the U.S. over 15,000 people have their lives saved annually due to having worn their belt. The administration also states that between 2010 and 2014, about 63,000 lives were saved in accidents due to wearing a belt. One of the many perks of owning a Jeep Wrangler is the ability to go on exciting off-road adventures. Whether you're deep in the forest or cruising on the beach, you'll more than likely get some dirt and debris on your Jeep, but that's all part of the fun. However, if you want to keep it looking great for years to come, you should follow these simple guidelines. more Washing Your Jeep The first step to keeping your Wrangler looking like new is washing it regularly. Even if you don't venture off-road that often, a mixture of dirt, air pollutants, tree sap, insect remains, and pollen will build up on the vehicle's body and inner fenders, making the painted and chromed areas lose their shine. The good news is any local car wash will do a good job, no matter how dirty your Jeep gets, as washing a car is a fairly standard procedure. If, on the other hand, you prefer to wash your Jeep Wrangler yourself, you'll need the appropriate gear. Using a hose alone won't be effective, especially if the car's body is covered in mud and dirt. To generate enough pressure to remove all the debris, you'll need an electric pressure washer. Also, to be sure it does a good job, preclean the most affected areas with a separate brush. Cleaning Your Jeep's Windows If you choose to clean the Wrangler yourself, washing the windows with plain water won't be enough to get them crystal clear. The gear you'll need to get your windows looking spotless consists of a window-cleaning spray and a few window-cleaning cloths. After removing most of the dirt with the pressure washer, spray the windshield with the window cleaner, and fold your cloth twice so it becomes a square. Wipe the cleaner off thoroughly with one side of the cloth, making sure to get every corner of the windshield. When the windshield looks fairly clean, turn the cloth over to its dry side and wipe again to make it shine. You can repeat this step on the side and rear windows. Waxing Your Wrangler Cleaning your Jeep's body and its windows will make it look great, but waxing it will give it that extra shine and protection you're looking for. There are many types of wax, such as liquid, paste, or spray, with the latter being the easiest to apply correctly. Aside from the spray, all you need is a microfiber buffing towel, and you're good to go. With the spray can in one hand and the towel in the other, spray small areas and wipe them off one at a time. Make sure you wax every area of the car's body evenly.
