Trim Levels
The six trim levels for the Cherokee start with the base level Latitude. This comes with 17-inch wheels, xenon headlights, and it has heated mirrors on the side. The Latitude Plus adds some upgraded convenience features in the cabin and the option for a power liftgate. The Altitude trim level provide a mysterious exterior look with blacked-out details and 18-inch gloss black aluminum wheels. Step up to the Limited and the power liftgate comes standard, and you'll also get 18-inch alloy wheels. The Overland is the top-level trim and comes with unique wheels, body-colored exterior trim elements, and cornering lights. The Trailhawk is the off-road themed model and comes with the advanced all-wheel-drive system, wider 17-inch wheels, and extras such as tow hooks, skid plates, and unique exterior trim elements.
Engine
The Latitude, Latitude Plus, and the Limited get their power from a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. This works with a nine-speed automatic transmission and generates 180 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. The optional 3.2-liter V-6 delivers 271 horsepower and 239 pound-feet of torque, and the new 2.0-liter turbo engine will get 270 horsepower.
Performance
The base engine will get 22 miles per gallon in the city with 31 mpg on the highway. The new 2.0-liter turbo engine has the extra power of the V-6 but delivers better fuel economy. You can get 23 miles per gallon in the city with 31 mpg on the highway with this new powertrain. Like other Jeeps, the Cherokee shines when you take it off the road, especially with the Trailhawk trim.
Interior
There are two rows of seats in the Cherokee with room for up to five people. The lower-end trims come with cloth upholstery, and starting with the Limited, you'll get leather seats. The Latitude Plus has a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, along with dual-zone climate control. For more convenience and luxury, the Overland adds driver seat memory functions, upgraded leather, and a sliding rear seat. There is plenty of technology in the Cherokee. All trims come with Bluetooth, the lower-end trims have a 7-inch touch screen, and the mid and high-end trims have an 8.4-inch touch screen. The Overland adds navigation and HD radio along with an upgraded stereo system, and you can add these as options on the lower trims.
Safety Features
All five Cherokee models come standard with a rearview camera and front and rear parking sensors. Some additional advanced safety features are available for the Limited, Trailhawk and Overland as part of the Technology Group Package. This comes with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, an automatic parking system, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. The automatic parking system is a convenient feature that works for both perpendicular and parallel parking.
