Trim Levels
The Caravan comes in three different trim levels. The entry-level SE starts things off with 17-inch steel wheels and heated side mirrors. Step up to the SE Plus for 17-inch alloy wheels, some black exterior accents, fog lights, and automatic headlights. The top-level SXT adds some creature comforts, such as power-sliding rear doors and a power liftgate, and it comes with roof rails and chrome exterior trim to set it apart from the other trims. The SXT is also eligible for the Blacktop Package, which keeps the black exterior trim from the SE Plus and removes the roof rack.
Engine
All three Grand Caravan models come with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine. This generates 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and it comes with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
Performance
The V-6 in this minivan will get it up to 60 miles per hour in about eight seconds and it has a good stopping distance for its class. Drivers can feel confident accelerating to merge onto the highway and passing once they get up to speed. Passengers in the Grand Caravan will enjoy a smooth, comfortable ride as the automatic transmission shifts seamlessly through the gears. Fuel efficiency is also good in this minivan, with an EPA rating of up to 25 mpg on the highway.
Interior
Cloth upholstery comes standard in this van, and there is seating for up to seven passengers. The third row of seats features the Stow 'n Go system which allows them to fold down into the floor to help create a large, flat cargo area. Folding down both the second and third rows of seats opens up the cargo area to over 140 cubic feet. The higher trims offer the option for leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and power-adjustable front seats. Technology features include a 6.5-inch touch screen, and the Uconnect infotainment system is an option for the SE and standard in the two higher trims. Bluetooth, a USB port, and satellite radio also come standard in the SE Plus and the SXT. Dodge also offers the option for integrated Garmin navigation, satellite radio, and a digital music storage system.
Safety Features
A rearview camera comes standard in all the Grand Caravan models, along with electronic stability control, all-speed traction control, side-curtain air bags, and anti-lock brakes. Rear parking sensors are available as an added option. Dodge built the Caravan to keep passengers safe using high-strength steel, and they added active front seat head restraints to help reduce the risk of head and neck injuries in the event of a collision.
