The 2019 Dodge Challenger has a total of eight trims to choose from: SXT, SXT AWD, GT, GT AWD, R/T, R/T Scat Pack, SRT Hellcat, and SRT Hellcat Redeye. Just about every trim upgrade comes with a new engine and better parts, and you can get a better set of features on many trims with a Plus package. Models at the low end like the SXT are more affordable than Hellcat trims, but even an SXT comes with an impressive engine and features like dual-zone automatic climate control.
Engine
Car buyers get no fewer than five engine options from the 2019 Challenger. First is the 3.6-liter V-6 that provides 305 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque. After that is a 5.7-liter V-8 Hemi that offers 375 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. The next V-8 takes up 6.4 liters and gives drivers 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. <br> The Hellcat engine is a supercharged V-8 that takes up 6.4 liters and generates 717 horsepower with 656 pound-feet of torque, 10 more horsepower than before thanks to a new hood scoop. Then there's the new Hellcat Redeye engine, a 6.2-liter V-8 based on last year's Demon that produces 797 horsepower and 707 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The performance you get from the 2019 Dodge Challenger all depends on your budget. Just about every trim comes with more power than the last one, and it also features upgraded mechanical parts like the suspension, brakes, and coolant systems. The electronic stability control system comes with three settings that let you choose how much understeer you want, and a Launch Control feature can make it a snap to jump forward from a standing start.
Interior
As a coupe, you wouldn't expect much interior space from a 2019 Challenger. However, the sports car turns out to have plenty of space to seat adults in the back row, plus the trunk comes with a total of 16.2 cubic feet of space. Thanks to these features, the Challenger can be surprisingly useful as a car for running errands and going on long trips. It can also come with some nice interior features like a 7-inch Driver Information Display and an infotainment system that starts with a 7-inch touch screen.
Safety Features
Safety features for the 2019 Dodge Challenger include the ParkView Rear Back-Up Camera, active head restraints, and six air bags.
